How Human React May Worst the Climate Change

While checking email, facebooking and jump from one site to another, I pass through this one interesting article. And there’s nothing I can do except to fully agree to it. A study done by Conservation International’s Will Turner and his group has conclude that “The way that humanity reacts to climate change may do more damage to many areas of the planet than climate change itself unless we plan properly”.

The study emphasize on efforts to both reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and potential action that could be taken by people to adapt to a changed climate and assesses the potential impact that these could have on global ecosystems.

Note that one fifth of the world’s remaining tropical forests lie within 50km of human population that could be inundated if sea levels rise by 1m. Well of course, these forests seem as the most suitable sources for building materials, food and other relevant resources. Besides, by rising of sea levels, these forests would be the best place for future survival of human.

-This is what happen, Should we allow this to happen?-

Dr Turner said that "There are numerous studies looking at the impacts of climate change on biodiversity, but very little time has been taken to consider what our responses to climate change might do to the planet." The paper notes that by constructing dams to generate hydropower as an effort to reduce greenhouse gases can alter freshwater ecosystems and also flora and fauna around that area.

They also do some reviews on studies from historical examples which involved climate change and environmental degradation and human’s effort in adapting the changes. They take migration caused in part by climatic instability in Burkina Faso in the late 20th century as one of examples. In this case, there was 13 per cent decline in forest cover as areas were cleared for agriculture. Beside, bushmeat hunting increase as there was decline in fish supplies in Ghana.

Dr Turner also added that "If we don't take a look at the whole picture, but instead choose to look only at small parts of it we stand to make poor decisions about how to respond that could do more damage than climate change itself to the planet's biodiversity and the ecosystem services that help to keep us all alive.
Climate change mitigation and adaptation are essential. What we need to do is to ensure that the responses do not compromise the biodiversity and ecosystem services where we ultimately depend.

For we to reduce emission, ensure stability of food supplies, help people survive in severe weather events, we need to plans how to accomplish all these without destroying our mother nature.

As conclusion, Dr Turner said that the best way to ensure the best outcome for people is by providing a positive environmental outcome. If we are sensible, we can help people and nature together cope with climate change, if we are not it will cause suffering for people and serious problems for the environment.

We have the power to choose, so we need to choose the best from all the options we have to have a better life without making our mother nature suffering.

  1. As we know,we can not deny ourself that we actually are the most responsible for the bad environmental impacts and climate change. That true that human nature had disrupt climate change and environmental well being without we noticed it.Even sometimes some our practice if we neccesary to choose between environmental aspect and human well being. We surely will choose human well being as top priority and neglecting environmental aspect.

I agree that Dr. Turner had said that the best way to ensure best outcome for people by providing a positive environmental outcome. We individually can practice sustainable living style, cope with our neighbourhood to ensure environmental well being and minimized environmental pollution. We can help people and nature to cope with climate change because if we did not do now we will suffer later in the future. Some practices that we can done like using public transport rather than own transport and reduce use of air-conditoner and aerosol product.Adaption to nature is necessary because we depend to the environmental and ecosystem services to continue our wel being life.
