WOOD LIQUID INSTEAD PLASTIC

Wood liquid friend of the environment instead of plastic
Plastic may be one of the greatest innovations in the twentieth century, but scientists believe that the German invention of the new "liquid wood" May be a useful alternative because it is free of chemicals and the possibility of benefit from it even in making things like children's toys, because of his friendship for the environment.
Despite the many benefits of plastics in our modern life, but it has many negative because it is not biodegradable and contain the carcinogenic substances and toxins may cause illness fatal, except for it is derived from petroleum, which is a source other than a renewed determination running out, and the rising prices of crude oil will lead to a commensurate increase in oil prices.
The team of German scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemistry and Technology in Pfnzatal near Carlsohi the invention of the article "Orburform" or "wood liquid", which decompose like wood in the water, they say that there is no need to cut any tree in order to obtain this article, a composed of lignin, a substance wood pulp.
They said scientists "we know his presence in large numbers and the possibility of many uses" and that may obviate the use of millions of barrels of oil for the manufacture of plastics, and "our use of the substance (lignin) may be we can replace a quarter of the world's output of plastic". They identified that they could reduce the amount of sulfur in the article Orburform by 90% and this is what makes a product safe to use daily. The footwear maker Sergio Rossi finally revealed that they use this article, ie, "Orboform", or wood liquid "for the manufacture of women's shoes because they are" environmentally friendly. Officials said the "It's great to find something nice and friendly to the environment."

  1. With a lot of effort finally substitute for plastic has been found and this material is environmental friendly. Plastics are produced from petroleum which currently in demand due to its decreasing availability. As the oil prices are increasing, plastic items are also becoming costly. Plastics are typically made of polyethelene and can take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade in landfills and emit harmful greenhouse gases. Many quatic animals had died due to deterioration caused by plastics in oceans.Wood liquid is generated from lignin, a material where about 10 millions tonnes are often discarded as a byproduct of the paper making process (as stated by Eisenreich, Fraunhofer Institute of Chemical Technology in an aricle posted by msnbc.msn.com). Instead of just being wasted it can be used to substitute plastic. Materials produced using wood liquid does not contain heavy metal and toxic softerners as phthlates. There are many news on harmful toxics found in toys made of plastic and being harmful to users. It is important to find a substitute for plastic, mainly due to increase of petroleum price and to eliminate health and environmental hazard posed by plastic....

  2. Wow...this is a good one. Knowing that there is a substitute for plastic and that it is environmentally friendly, and safe for daily use, is a big relief for me.

As mentioned in this website: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-liquid-wood.htm
"Finished, it can look like ordinary plastic found in most household products or like polished wood." Thus, it must be very hard for us to distinguish them from ordinary plastic right?

I wonder whether we can find any product made from this bio-plastic (Arboform) in Malaysia. Hmm.. after this I'm going to start reading the label again whenever I saw plastic kind of stuffs, especially toys. I really hope that I can find one, at least.

From doing further reading, now I understand that this bio-plastic Arboform® is formed from the combination of lignin and natural fibers, like flax or hemp, and additives such as wax. This liquid wood has been used to produce a variety of products, such as watches, car parts, pens, speaker boxes, and a nativity set.

  3. Finally plastic has found it's rival!! ;-)
But could this wood liquid become the new plastic? But not all plastic products can be replaced by this "eco-plactic".

According to the article at http://news.smh.com.au/world/liquid-wood-may-replace-plastic-experts-20090112-7f4p.html, this substance is currently not suitable for making toys and household items because of the high sulphur contain.

Just my thought, say if one day, all plastics are being completely substituted by wood liquid, what will happen by then? Hmm, probably this can caused havoc because all plastic's factories will be shut down. Many will lost their job..but some will find a new job at the wood liquid factories :-)

  4. Bioavailable plastics contain substances that can be absorbed by living systems during their normal physiological functions.

By combining and modifying a variety of bio-based, oil-based and natural polymers, the team seeks to create optimal blends that can be used to make agricultural films, bottles, biomedical and drug delivery devices, and more.
So it's essentisl reform the material which made plastic.
If the plastic could back to environment it could be most succesful for man, because we have alot of trash from that.
